Rotavirus - The Vaccine
Rotarix (rotavirus vaccine) is given from 6 weeks or age and require two doses, spread at least 4 weeks apart. Ideally the course should be completed by 16 weeks of age, or 24 weeks at the latest.
Rather that being an injection, the vaccine is administered orally. Whilst technically a parent could be given instructions to administer the second dose, due to temperature requirements for storage and generally to be on the safe side, we would prefer to see the patient on both occasions and therefore 2 appointments will be required, at least 4 weeks apart.
Rotarix is manufactured by GlaxoSmithKline
