My baby was born early. When should he start his immunisations?
Babies who were born early are at even greater risk from infections than babies born on time because their immune systems are less mature.
Because a mother passes some protective antibodies to her baby across the placenta in the last three months of pregnancy, premature babies receive less of these antibodies.
Babies should be given their first immunisation two months after their actual birth date. See the schedule of immunisation for more information.
